Big celebrations are planned in Argenteuil communities for Fête nationale (St-Jean-Baptiste).
While the actual day is Tuesday, June 24, Grenville is getting the party for Québec’s holiday started the night before on Monday, June 23. Free festivities begin at 4 pm at Parc Normand-Woodbury. The evening includes a spaghetti supper, and the parade at 6 pm. Grenville’s celebrations end with fireworks at 10 pm.
Lachute is also celebrating Fête nationale on Monday evening with free events at the fairgrounds beginning at 5 pm. There will be children’s activities, live entertainment, and pyro-musical fireworks to complete the evening.
On Tuesday, June 24, the town of Brownsburg-Chatham is presenting a free Fête nationale event at the municipal campground on Route des Outaouais beginning at 4 pm until 10:30 pm.
From 4 p.m. to 8 p.m., family activities are in the spotlight: inflatable games, face painting, balloon sculptures, circus lessons, strolling entertainment, crafts, and temporary tattoos await.
The snack bar at the municipal campsite La Shop à Mémère, the Sir John Brewing Co. brewery, and the Pergola Pizza food truck will also be there to offer food and drinks ($). On stage, starting at 8 p.m., the duo Les 2 gars du coin will entertain you with their own songs and covers of the greatest Québec classics. The official ceremony will begin at 8:50 p.m. At 9 p.m., the stage will vibrate to the sound of folk rock, welcoming a rising artist: Vice du Nord. A bonfire, hosted by a DJ, will close the evening, which will end at 10:30 p.m.
Residents are asked to bring folding chairs and reusable water bottles; drinking fountains are accessible and the water is fresh. Please note that glass bottles and pets are prohibited on site. In an effort to go green, people are encouraged to prioritize carpooling or access the site by bicycle via the VéloRoute d’Argenteuil. A security team will direct visitors to the free parking lot, located on Montée Byrne, upon arrival.
