Residents of the Municipalité régionale de comté d’Argenteuil are invited to take part in public consultations for the 2025-2040 Strategic Vision (SV), a long-term regional planning initiative. The SV will address current and future issues, defining a common language and integrated approach to growth in the region.

In June 2022, the Government of Québec adopted its first-ever National Architecture and Land Use Planning Policy. It requires all municipalities across the province to develop a strategic vision for regional planning and development by 2027.

MRC d’Argenteuil Prefect Scott Pearce encouraged residents to get involved: “Every opinion counts! By bringing together the ideas, concerns, and aspirations of citizens, the MRC will be able to build a promising vision based on the realities of the territory and look to the future.”

Participants can comment on the project itself, as well as on broader topics they feel impact the region. Examples highlighted on the SV website include climate change adaptation, enhancement of natural attractions, youth retention, aging population challenges, and economic diversification.

Overall, the SV will reflect the MRC’s sustainable development vision. It will define clear guidelines and set attainable goals to enhance quality of life, protect the environment, and support economic growth across different industries.

In-person public consultations and workshops will take place on the following dates, with no registration required:

  • Saturday, May 24 at 10 a.m., in the Lucien-Durocher room of the MRC d’Argenteuil building at 430 rue Grace, Lachute
  • Thursday, June 5 at 7 p.m., in the large hall of the Lakefield Cultural Space Community Centre located at 2 chemin Cambria, Gore
  • Thursday, June 12 at 7 p.m., at the Louis-Renaud Community Centre located at 270 chemin Canton, Brownsburg-Chatham
