The Hawkesbury General Hospital (HGH) continues to offer free mental health walk-in clinics throughout the year—no appointment or referral needed. These clinics are available to anyone feeling stressed or anxious, struggling with addiction, or facing other life challenges.

Located at the Mental Health and Addiction Regional Centre at 580 Spence Avenue in Hawkesbury, and the Casselman Satellite Centre at 710 Principale Street in Casselman, the mental health walk-in clinics serve residents over the age of 12 with a valid Health Card.

Services are provided on a first-come, first-served basis, with no screening required. Individuals from Québec are also welcome to utilize the walk-in services.

Each clinic visit is a one-on-one, single-session approach, which is held with a psychotherapist. A counsellor from the Youth Hub is also on hand to help with teenagers dealing with mental health issues.

The clinics do not offer medication reviews, medical notes for leaves of absence, or counselling with a psychiatrist. However, medical staff work with patients to strategically plan ways to deal with mental health concerns, with clients having the option to be referred to one of the hospital’s programs for longer-term therapy.

Some life challenges addressed through the service include family conflict, separation or divorce, grief, job loss, trauma, depression, anxiety, and addictions. Support is also available for interpersonal issues, gender identity and expression, as well as sexual assault.
