There’s a whole new look and more merchandise at the Canadian Tire store in Hawkesbury. On Thursday, May 8, the store held a grand reopening after months of renovations.
“Everything in the store moved,” said Pierre Marchand, who has owned the location on Highway 17 at Cameron Street since March, 2024.
The various departments inside the store have been relocated to make better use of space. Marchand said they have added 1,000 linear feet to the 45,000 square feet of retail space.
“Every category has more stock,” Marchand said.
Specific examples of the increased selection that Marchand highlighted include household cleaning products and locks and closing hardware for doors.
Even the entrance and exit doors fronting the parking lot have been relocated. The customer service counter has been relocated to improve access. Changes have been made to the checkout area, there is increased space for customers who placed online orders to come into the store and collect small items from lockers, and a new room has been created for customers to access online orders for large items. Significant improvements have also been made to store security to prevent theft.
Along with the increased selection and improvements to the store, Marchand has one main objective for the Canadian Tire in Hawkesbury.
“My main goal is to offer the best customer service,” he remarked.
A special grand reopening reception was held at the Hawkesbury Canadian Tire during the evening on Wednesday, May 7. Before the store opened at 8 am on Thursday, May 8, there was a lineup of customers outside waiting to take advantage of grand reopening specials. The first 150 customers also received a gift card.
Canadian Tire was founded in Toronto in 1922 as primarily a tire and automotive parts store and service centre. Today, there are 503 Canadian Tire associate stores across Canada offering automotive, hardware, sporting goods, kitchen goods, and lawn and garden supplies.
