For 35 years, local children have been sharing their musical talent on stage for the community in Vankleek Hill.

The annual Vankleek Hill Music Festival begins on Friday, April 25 with concerts on April 26, 27, May 2, 3, and 4.

All concerts take place at Knox Presbyterian Church at 29 High Street in Vankleek Hill.

“I cannot believe it!” organizer and local music teacher ian Hepburn said about the festival lasting 35 years.

Hepburn said the festival began when a new theatre was built at the former Vankleek Hill Collegiate Institute (VCI) building in 1990. That theatre included a fully restored grand piano.

“It was a new piano in a new theatre,” Hepburn said.

Since then, the Vankleek Hill Music Festival has allowed local children to display their various musical talents and provide entertainment to audiences.

All music festival concerts are free. For more information, contact ian Hepburn at 613-678-2286.
