On Monday, March 31, Harrington council unanimously approved the purchase of four radar speed signs from Kalitech to be installed throughout the municipality.

Each sign costs $4,780.00 plus applicable taxes, bringing the total to approximately $19,120. The signs will be strategically placed on roadways where speeding is a known issue and will display messaging and the driver’s speed.

Mayor Gabrielle Parr stated that two signs would be installed “in the section of Lost River, which we can call our downtown Lost River, and two on White Road to raise awareness among road users.”

Council was informed that radar speed signs use proven technology to enhance road safety by prompting drivers to obey posted speed limits.

Councillors Chantal Scapino and Daniel St-Onge were absent from the meeting.
