The Ontario Provincial Police has identified a homicide victim in Clarence-Rockland.
On Friday, April 4, 2025, shortly before 3:00 p.m., officers were called to a residence on Lalonde Street. One person was transported to hospital and pronounced deceased.
The deceased has been identified as Dharmeshkumar Vallabhabhai Kathireeya, age 29 of Clarence-Rockland.
As a result of the investigation, Gilles Martel, age 83 of Clarence-Rockland, was charged with second degree murder contrary to section 235(1) of the Criminal Code.
The Russell County OPP Crime Unit is continuing the investigation under the direction of the OPP Criminal Investigation Branch, in conjunction with the Office of the Chief Coroner and the Ontario Forensic Pathology Service. Assistance is being provided by OPP Forensic Identification Services.
