Mario Leclerc is the New Democratic Party (NDP) candidate in the Stormont–Dundas–Glengarry (SDG) riding for the federal election taking place on April 28. A dedicated advocate for workers’ rights and a strong voice for the community, Leclerc brings extensive experience in public service, labour activism, and political engagement to the race.

Having first run for the New Democratic Party (NDP) in Stormont—Dundas—South Glengarry (SDSG) in 2011 when the party was under Jack Layton’s leadership, Mario Leclerc is returning to the campaign trail for a second time.

A fully bilingual Franco-Ontarian father of two, Leclerc moved to the area from Mississauga many years ago when he was working for the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA). Now working as a paralegal at the Administrative Housing Tribunal, Leclerc has been actively involved in labour and public policy, serving on the executive of the Cornwall and District Labour Council, the TVOntario/TFO Advisory Board (from 1996-99), and the Ontario Criminal Injury Compensation Board (from 1997-99).

“I am applying for the MP job in the House of Commons—nothing less,” said Leclerc. “This election is about standing up for everyday people. The Liberals promise to balance the budget, but at what cost? The Conservatives’ agenda will not serve working-class Canadians either. Under both parties, essential programs and services would face drastic cuts. We cannot let that happen.”

“More than ever, we need job security, stability, and strong unions,” Leclerc added. “Every vote counts.”
