Liberal candidate for Prescott-Russell-Cumberland Giovanna Mingarelli kicked off her campaign on Sunday, March 23, in her downtown Rockland office where she was joined by roughly 100 people, volunteers, family and friends.

Included in the crowd were Members of Parliament (MP) Francis Drouin and Mona Fortier, along with Catherine McKenna, the former federal Minister of Environment and Climate Change. McKenna praised Mingarelli for her commitment to giving back to the community she was raised in.

Mingarelli is one of 343 candidates running under the banner of Liberal leader and Prime Minister Mark Carney. Like the Liberal leader, Mingarelli is promoting the importance of building a strong local economy that supports all residents in Prescott-Russell-Cumberland, including for farmers and small businesses, in face of Trump’s unjust tariffs from the US.

“I’m working to support our new Prime Minister and Liberal leader, Mark Carney, to keep Canada strong. This includes supporting our local economy—cutting red tape, supporting local businesses, and creating jobs. I believe in a united Prescott-Russell-Cumberland, where everyone—youth, seniors, farmers, Indigenous communities, and vulnerable populations—gets the support they need to thrive,” Mingarelli said.

Mingarelli grew up in Rockland and attended l’école élémentaire catholique Sainte-Trinité and Rockland District High School. Her first job at 14 was at the Rockland Golf Club, before starting her professional career on Parliament Hill, working for former Prime Minister Paul Martin.  She has spent the last decade working in a multi-partisan capacity to advance issues related to women and youth’s economic and political empowerment.

She is an award-winning technology entrepreneur and the owner of several businesses. Her business career includes communications consulting to organizations and governments striving to measure and showcase their positive impact. Technologically, she’s deeply passionate about empowering people to take positive action online, and the sovereign identity movement – which gives people ownership over their digital lives. She is currently writing a book with Forbes about her entrepreneurial journey to date.

Over the next five weeks until election day on April 28, Mingarelli and her volunteers plan on knocking on doors and meeting with voters across the Prescott-Russell-Cumberland riding.
