The United Counties of Stormont, Dundas and Glengarry (SDG) have collaborated with the City of Cornwall, and the Mohawk Council of Akwesasne to produce and share a new video aimed at promoting support for local businesses and products during the current economic situation Canada is in due to tariffs and politics in the United States.

The video, titled Stronger Together; Supporting Our Local Businesses is available to watch at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1htlqH_M4LI.

As a border community deeply tied to the US economy, the counties, city, and first nation are rallying together to support local businesses impacted by U.S. tariffs.

This collaboration demonstrates the resilience and unity of our communities, showing how we can overcome challenges and emerge stronger together.

The video features images of local businesses and industries with comments from SDG Warden Martin Lang, North Glengarry Mayor Jamie MacDonald, South Glengarry Mayor Lachlan McDonald, Cornwall Mayor Justin Towndale, Grand Chief of Akwesasne Leonard Lazore, and the Mayors of North and South Stormont, and North and South Dundas.

“Our farms sustain our communities. The local food grown here feeds us all,” Lang remarks in the video, while at a local farm.

Fresh baked goods at Henderson’s Grocery in Lancaster are also shown.

“North Glengarry creates. From arts to culture, we showcase the best in local talent,” comments MacDonald in the video, while images of art and artists at The Priest’s Mill in Alexandria are shown.
