A resident of Saint-Hubert, Québec has been charged after stolen vehicles were found in a sea container on eastbound Highway 401 near the Ontario-Québec boundary.
Motor Carrier Enforcement Officers from the Ministry of Transportation (MTO) were conducting an inspection just before 9 a.m. on Monday, March 17, 2025, at the Curry Hills Scales, east of Cornwall, when they made the discovery. Members of the Stormont, Dundas and Glengarry (SD&G) Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to the scene.
The two vehicles in the sea container had been reported stolen in the Greater Toronto area.
As a result of the investigation, Ghislain Gallant, age 63, has been charged with
- Possession of property obtained by crime over $5000 – two counts
- Trafficking in stolen good over $5000
The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Cornwall on May 7, 2025.
