The Québec government is providing financial assistance to a watermain replacement project in Lachute.
On February 3, city council gave its consent to signing an agreement with the Québec ministry of municipal affairs and housing to receive a grant of $924,404 for new watermains on rue Corbeil.
The city of Lachute is continuing its program of acquiring lands at high risk of flooding near Riviere-du-Nord. On February 3, council adopted a motion to acquire three lots along rue Laurin. The city has already taken ownership of several properties in the area. Homes and buildings have been demolished, and one property is now the site of a reforestation project.
Mayor Bernard Bigras-Denis said agreements to acquire the latest lots were reached with each property owner.
