On Tuesday, January 28, the Desjardins Foundation awarded $3,000 to a Leadership Group project by students at Laurentian Regional High School (LRHS) in Lachute.

The contribution will support the activities of the Leadership Group, which aims to enable students to develop leadership and interpersonal skills, which in turn will enhance LRHS student life and increase positive engagement. ” The group’s work will be used to give young people responsibility for leading school activities and, in particular, organizing the visit of Grade 6 students to Laurentian Regional High School in the spring,” said Mélanie Demers, one of the teachers in charge of the project.

“The involvement of young people in a program like the LRHS Leadership Group is an important factor in supporting academic perseverance, and we’re very happy to be able to contribute to this initiative through the Desjardins Foundation.”, said Valérie Lamarre, Chair of the Board of Caisse Desjardins d’Argenteuil.

The Desjardins Foundation Prizes are awarded to special projects headed up by school and community workers to benefit kindergarten, elementary and high school students. Financial assistance is granted to projects with the greatest potential to motivate young people.

In 2024, we supported 772 winning projects and awarded more than $2 million to change the lives of some 159,500 young people,” said Nancy Lee, Executive Director of the Desjardins Foundation.
