To the Editor,

If you’ve read the news, Amazon warehouses will imminently be closing all over the Province of Québec. I think it’s time for Hawkesbury and/or the region of Prescott-Russell to take advantage of its proximity to the metropolis of Montréal and make a case for Amazon to have a warehouse right here. Why? This is going to bring massive jobs to our region, and bring some name recognition to our rather quiet and forgotten region sandwiched between two major cities. Perhaps this is what Hawkesbury (and the region) sorely needs–a big-name company to open up in town to bring prosperity and progress to our region. Our region stands to benefit from being a part of Ontario whenever companies leave Québec for whatever reason they choose to leave Québec. For example, Taco Bell closed all over Québec but strategically kept a location on the Ontario/Québec border in Hawkesbury, which attracts hardcore Taco Bell fans from Montréal. Flavoured vapes are banned in Québec but sold in Hawkesbury. We need to take advantage of this soon, and fast. Progress cannot come sooner enough for our town and region. It’s time for us to move into the 21st century.
