On January 15, MRC d’Argenteuil council unanimously approved a request for another $35,650 from the Ministère des Transport et de la Mobilité durable (MTMD) to fund maintenance costs of the VéloRoute d’Argenteuil.

The VéloRoute d’Argenteuil is part of the larger Route Verte nationale cycling network that crosses the entire province of Québec.

To qualify for the annual subsidy, MRC d’Argenteuil must commit to a minimum of $71,300 in work and salaries assigned to VéloRoute d’Argenteuil projects. The MTMD finances 50 per cent of maintenance costs for the Route Verte nationale in the region and is set at a per kilometre rate between $60 and $1,750. Costs associated vary depending on whether the route is on a dedicated site or shared with motor vehicles.

Maintenance of these routes mainly consists of vegetation control, patrolling, garbage receptacles, asphalt, and other repairs.

In 2024, the Carillon Power Station lookout had major work completed utilizing some of these funds, replacing much of the wooden boards on the first floor.
