The agricultural community of Eastern Ontario is being called to action to support a worthy cause. Co-Chairs of Maxville Manor’s Agriculture Committee, Jack Fraser, Linda Fraser, and Eric Metcalfe, are spearheading the “100 Farmers Who Care” initiative as an extension of the ongoing “100 Maxville Manor Friends Who Care” campaign. This effort seeks to highlight the vital role farmers play in supporting local communities through significant projects like the one at Maxville Manor, a long-term care home dedicated to providing quality services for seniors across Eastern Ontario.
The Maxville Manor Foundation is committed to raising $11 million toward its much-needed upgrade and expansion project and having already secured over $8 million, they need your help to urgently meet their goal. This expansion will increase the Manor’s capacity to accommodate 160 residents and enhance outreach services for over 500 seniors through programs such as Meals on Wheels, the Day Away Program, Diners Club, and other social activities.
Farmers and agriculture partners are invited to participate in the “100 Farmers Who Care” initiative. Whether through a one-time donation or a multi-year pledge, each contribution makes a meaningful impact. This is an opportunity for the agricultural community to showcase its strength, compassion, and dedication to supporting our seniors and all gifts of $1000+ will be recognized in the redeveloped Manor.
To maximize every donation, the Kenyon Agricultural Society has pledged to match contributions up to $500,000 in an effort to raise $1 million by working together. This means a $1,000 donation effectively becomes $2,000, and a $5,000 donation can double to $10,000 when made by the end of 2024.
Linda Fraser, Agriculture Committee Co-Chair, emphasizes the importance of this community effort: “We truly believe the agricultural community has the power to create lasting change. This initiative goes beyond fundraising— it’s about living out the values we hold in caring for each other. Every donation, no matter its size, helps us reach our goal and support the seniors who depend on us.” To kick the campaign off as co-chairs and leaders of this initiative, Eric and his wife Vanessa Metcalfe have generously given $10,000 and Jack and Linda Fraser have confirmed their gift over time of $50,000.
