Multiple vehicles were involved in a morning accident along Autoroute 50 on December 4. The accident occurred under the Montée Rochon bridge in Brownsburg-Chatham.

Early morning snow caused slippery driving conditions along the dangerous stretch of the highway, resulting in three vehicles colliding. It appears that one vehicle lost control and swerved into oncoming traffic.

Autoroute 50 has had numerous accidents between the Laurentians and Outaouais. Significant sections of this highway do not have a safety barrier along the centre line.

Emergency services were quick to respond to the scene and are reporting one elderly man in his sixties in critical condition and another driver suffering serious injuries and was transported to hospital. The third driver was unharmed.

The Sûreté du Québec (SQ) continue to investigate the scene and will determine if the vehicles involved had winter tires installed. Drivers are encouraged to avoid the area and use Autoroute 148 as a detour.
