Officers from the Hawkesbury Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have apprehended one individual following a barricaded person incident in Hawkesbury.
On October 31, 2024, at approximately 8:55 pm, officers responded to a call for a male that had barricaded himself in a residence with an edged weapon. The male also indicated that he had a firearm. Patrol officers, as well as the Emergency Response Team (ERT) and the K9 unit attended the scene and safely apprehended the male, who was brought to hospital for medical assessment.
Police determined that there had been no firearm at the scene. There was a heavy police presence in the area at the time of the investigation.
There were no injuries sustained and there is no threat to public safety.
