A youth was arrested and charged criminally after Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers seized a vehicle as part of an investigation in Vankleek Hill on Tuesday, September 24.

According to the OPP, officers were notified of the situation at 11:25 am Tuesday.

A grey, Chevrolet Equinox with no licence plates had been left in the parking lot behind 76 Main Street East. An eyewitness said the same vehicle had been seen earlier in the day at the parking lot behind 84 Main Street East. At around 2:24 pm Tuesday, members of the OPP’s Emergency Response Team (ERT) arrived and examined the vehicle. The ERT officers said the vehicle would be towed away. A regular officer from the Hawkesbury detachment remained at the scene until the vehicle was removed by a towing company later on Tuesday afternoon.

An OPP spokesperson said a youth was charged in connection with the investigation associated with the vehicle and as a result further information cannot be provided.
