Arbor Gallery is pleased to feature the work of artists Monique Bergevin, Johanne Gélinas and Sylvain Seguin in the new exhibition “Connection With Nature,” which runs from September 26 to October 20. In this group show, the artists explore how the act of creation inspired by nature allows them to, in their words, “move away from the frantic pace of our modern society to fully enjoy the present moment.”

The three artists are linked not only by their shared reverence for nature but also by blood: Bergevin is aunt to cousins Gélinas and Seguin.

Bergevin is a Rockland-based artist partial to figurative and abstract art whose paintings – both in oil and acrylic – are featured in this show. Many of her artworks are in private collections across Canada, the United States and Europe.

Gélinas is a watercolorist who resides in Gatineau. With a particular interest in rendering plants and animals, she draws inspiration from her walks around her city, in Gatineau Park or on her travels.

Success! You're on the list.

Seguin, who lives in Embrun, is a self-taught wood-carver who makes a point of using dead trees as the raw material for his large sculptural pieces. “I don’t believe in cutting a beautiful tree down just to get a branch of it. I really respect nature. The nicest thing about what I do is that I am giving a second chance at life to a rotting tree,” he says.

The community can meet Bergevin at the show’s vernissage on Saturday, September 28, from 1 pm to 3 pm. Light refreshments will be served. For more information, visit www.arborgallery.org. Arbor Gallery is located at 36 Home Avenue in Vankleek Hill.
