Residents of a multi-unit rental were awoken to the sound of gunfire in the early morning hours on September 5, 2024.

Around 1:30 Thursday morning, the Hawkesbury Detachment of the OPP responded to the shooting incident. The residence, located off Highway 34 near the Main Street West intersection of Vankleek Hill, was subject to multiple gunshots with a variety of damage.

No injuries were reported.

Several parked vehicles, a glass cabinet for sale, and the building itself were damaged. The individual or individuals then fled on County Road 10 in a black or dark vehicle, heading westbound.

Police believe that this was a targeted incident and there is no imminent threat to public safety. The Hawkesbury OPP, Hawkesbury OPP Crime Unit, and the OPP Forensic Identification Services Unit are continuing their investigation.
