The Noticer by Andy Andrews is an intriguing book.
It’s not exactly fiction, although it has some fictional elements. But it’s not exactly biographical either, though you will find some of that in there, too.
The Noticer tells the story of a mysterious old man named Jones, who appears in people’s lives just when they need guidance. He offers lessons on life, love, teenage dating, depression, corporate greed and others, helping people see their problems and opportunities more clearly and calmly.
These three quotes were particularly memorable to me:
“Your vision, my boy, it is incredibly cloudy at the moment, but I am certain we can clear a pathway from your head to your heart and into your future.”
“Remember, whatever you focus upon, increases…When you focus on the things you need, you’ll find those needs increasing. But a grateful perspective brings happiness and abundance into a person’s life.”
“After all, the seeds of depression cannot take root in a grateful heart.”
I love these quotes because they remind us of our power to choose how we perceive and respond to our life experiences. Having a second point of view, a different outlook on one’s struggles, can change the path of one’s life.
The Noticer is an easy read with a lot to offer, encouraging fresh insights and reflections.
