Add beauty and interest into your home by incorporating nature inspired elements.  By bringing a piece of nature inside, you’ll create a more natural environment that can help reduce stress and boost your mood. Plus, it’s fun!

For me personally, one of my favourite ways to bring nature indoors is by adding birds into my decor through accessories. It’s amazing that just adding a couple of birds into your space will transform the energy in it and in turn you.

Here are some examples:

Cushions can be added to a bed, chair or couch.  An inexpensive update.

A bird teapot and tray with birds and flowers are perfect for entertaining.

Artwork with birds can lighten up any room.

I personally love collecting feathers.  As I come across them, I bring them home and incorporate them into my decor.  This is one of my favourite ways, adding feathers to a vintage, silver pitcher.  Simple yet beautiful.

Birds have a special place in my vignettes around my home.  This one, in my living room, is probably one of my favourites.

Another great way to bring nature indoors is by using plants, moss, branches, birch logs and bird’s nests in your home decor.

A birdcage vignette completes a living room in a beautiful way.  Natural elements used: grapevine, small branches, moss, an actual bird nest, feathers, rocks and mini lights to create this beautiful vignette featuring touches of nature.

I enjoy using vases all year in different ways.  Obviously, my favourite is when I receive fresh flowers.  I also love creating arrangements using nature’s bounty – different types of branches and leaves.  Here is one that I just created for spring/summer.  I really like the “lightness” of it.  Special thanks to Jade Garden here in town for their design assistance!  I shared with them my idea and they were pleased to provide me with some dogwood.

I hope that I have inspired you to look at nature differently and how you can incorporate it into your home.  Go for a walk, pick up something that speaks to you and bring it home.  You’ll have the beginning of your own natural vignette!

Have fun on your nature journey.

Until next time,  Sue
