The Club d’autos Hawkesbury Auto Club is presenting the 26th Hawkesbury Auto Expo on Sunday, September 1. Main Street in the downtown area will be closed as classic and show car owners gather to display their vehicles for visitors.
All profits from the Auto Expo go to the Hawkesbury Central Food Bank. All summer long, the club has been hosting cruise nights each Wednesday from 6 pm to 8 pm beside Asselin Your Independent Grocer at the intersection of Highway 17 and Cameron Street. These weekly events also give vehicle owners the chance to show their automobiles, and raise money for the food bank.
Club Treasurer Robert Lessard, who along with his wife and daughter have three classic vehicles, said 60 to 70 vehicles usually show up at a Wednesday cruise night. Asselin provides the space and barbecue grills so vehicle owners can have something to eat.
In 2023, the Auto Expo and cruise nights raised about $12,000 for the Hawkesbury Central Food Bank.
A special Super Cruise Night will be held in downtown Hawkesbury on Saturday, August 30 from 6 pm to 10 pm. Live music and draws will be included that evening, and during the Auto Expo itself on September 1.
