The rolling hills, green fields, productive farms, and historic homes along Cassburn Road in Champlain Township could easily be described as God’s Country. Drivers and cyclists now have a place to stop and enjoy the countryside—in a local churchyard.
Cassburn United Church, which itself is one of the attractive, historic buildings along Cassburn Road, has created a small picnic area on its property. A shelter has been constructed with a wheelchair accessible picnic table underneath. There is also plenty of space on the lawn, under shady trees to enjoy a picnic on a blanket.
The church has also installed a picnic table sign by the road so travelers are able to see the location more easily.
Of course, leaving litter on the ground is not permitted.
