The Prescott-Russell Community Development Corporation (PRCDC) is among 27 agencies, businesses, and organizations across Eastern Ontario receiving federal funding for tourism-related initiatives.
The $200,000 the PRCDC is receiving is part of more than $3.7 in federal funding announced for Eastern Ontario tourism on August 7 in Kingston by Member of Parliament Mark Gerretsen.
The Hawkesbury-based PRCDC will use the federal funding to develop and implement a tourism strategy to help grow the number of visitors to the region.
No other agencies or businesses in Prescott-Russell or Stormont, Dundas, and Glengarry are receiving any of the federal tourism funding. Most of the beneficiaries are in the Thousand Islands, Kingston, and Bay of Quinte-Hastings areas. However, the Region 9 Regional Tourism Organization, which oversees tourism development and promotion for all of southeastern Ontario, is receiving $250,000 to assist with the creation and implementation of a tourism research plan for southeastern Ontario.
