Monday, June 24 was St-Jean-Baptiste/Fête nationale in Québec. Grenville decided to celebrate the holiday on Sunday, June 23 with a community gathering at Parc Normand-Woodbury. Due to the frequent heavy rain and thunderstorm warning, the parade was unfortunately cancelled, and the children’s games and activities had to be moved underneath the rink roof where the entertainment and other festivities were taking place.

“This is a day for all Québécois to celebrate their culture and heritage,” Grenville Mayor Pierre Thauvette told the crowd.

Jessica Genereux-Carriere of Loisirs Grenville, the village recreation organization, delivered brief remarks about the significance of the French language, music, and culture of Québec.

“Québec is an example of diversity and inclusion,” she said.
