On Thursday, June 6, the Arbor Gallery in Vankleek Hill is hosting its first Chai and Chat gathering. This weekly event invites local artists and artisans to bring an artistic project to work on in the company of others. Every Thursday morning from 10am to noon, participants can enjoy chai tea and a chat with fellow makers as they create at their own pace.
“This is a service that some of our members have suggested in the past and now we’re poised to put it in action, expanding it to include gallery members and non-members alike. This is one of several new outreach activities that we’ll be implementing as we celebrate our 30th anniversary,” Arbor Gallery Artistic Director Andrea Belcham said.
The gallery will not be providing any formal instruction or art materials during these sessions; instead, it’s offering a space for people to connect, find support, share tips, and be inspired to follow new paths in their creating. Many artists and artisans work in solitude and this new service provides the opportunity for networking in a cultural setting. As the gathering will take place at a communal table, the gallery recommends participants bring a small, portable project. All levels are welcome to join this exciting new venture!
There is a drop-in fee of $5 per session. No pre-registration is required. For further information, contact Andrea Belcham at: [email protected] or call 613-518-2787.
