More than 33 drivers are facing charges after more than 50 vehicles and motorcycles were checked for safety during an operation by MRC d’Argenteuil Sûreté du Québec officers on rue Principale in Lachute on May 4.
More than 33 infractions were issued, including for non-compliant exhaust systems and other vehicle safety issues.
Section 258 of the Highway Safety Code requires every vehicle must be equipped with an exhaust system that complies with the standards established by regulation. An owner of a vehicle not equipped with an exhaust system that meets standards is liable to a fine of $200 plus costs.
