Mental Health Week starts next week and this year’s theme is compassion. In a world that can often feel overwhelming, fostering kindness towards ourselves and others is crucial for our well-being. At Champlain Library, we offer a refuge—a safe space where you can leisurely browse our aisles and find a moment of calm.

Reading can be a wonderful escape from the stress of everyday life. A short escape into fantasy, a new perspective or a connection with a character is sometimes all it takes to reset our outlook.

If you could currently benefit from a little guidance may we recommend the titles: Resilient: How to Grow an Unshakable Core of Calm, Strength, and Happiness by Rick Hanson and Forrest Hanson, or Little Treatments, Big Effects: How to Build Meaningful Moments That Can Transform Your Mental Health by Jessica Schleider. You can also try searching mental health in our catalog.

Feeling good and want to spread positivity? We recommend Empathy: Turning Compassion into Action by David Johnston and Brian Hanington, or The Kindness Cure: How the Science of Compassion Can Heal Your Heart & Your World by Tara Cousineau.

Let’s all work together to foster a healthier, happier community. Visit the CMHA’s Mental Health Week site for resources, and connect with us on Instagram or Facebook for library updates.
