The Municipalité régionale de comté (MRC) d’Argenteuil was the second most popular region in Québec to move to in 2022-2023.

Argenteuil’s status is confirmed in a ranking of the migration rates of Québec’s 104 regional municipalities in the Sociodemographic Bulletin prepared by the Institut de la statistique du Québec. In 2021-2022, the MRC d’Argenteuil held third place in the ranking, and it held fourth place in 2020-2021.

The rankings are determined according to the number of incoming and outgoing individuals, i.e. the number of people who decide to come and settle in Argenteuil compared to those who move out of the regional municipality. In 2022-2023, 2,134 people moved into Argenteuil, and 1,394 people moved out, resulting in a net gain of 740 residents in the region, representing a net rate of 2.04 per cent, one of the highest in Québec.

“These data confirm that the MRC d’Argenteuil is one of the most attractive regions of Québec. Ideal geographical positioning, access to housing for all budgets and a pace of life harmonizing proximity to nature and accessibility to services: so many ingredients which are worthy of our MRC arriving at the top of the rankings” commented MRC d’Argenteuil Prefect Scott Pearce.

“The MRC d’Argenteuil draws its strength from the natural and true character of its territory. First of all, we aim for intelligent and sustainable development of the territory, in order to remain a balanced environment, balanced and avant-garde in terms of quality of life,” Pearce remarked.

In 2021, the MRC d’Argenteuil launched its INSPIRER. RESPIRER. ARGENTEUIL campaign to promote Argenteuil as a place to live, work, and establish business. The campaign has been promoted at events across Québec. For more information, go to www.inspirer-respirer.com.
