The forest fire danger in the Laurentides, Outaouais, and Vaudreuil-Soulanges regions of Québec is currently high, according to the province’s forest fire protection agency.
The Société de protection des forêts contre le feu (SOPFEU) has issued the high or yellow level warning due to dry conditions in those regions and across much of southern Quebec. The yellow/high level is the middle of a five-level scale ranging from green/low to red/extreme.
So far, there have been five forest fires in Québec in 2024. The most recent one was a small fire on Saturday, March 30 in the Parc national d’Oka. That fire was quickly brought under control by local firefighters and the park reopened on Sunday, March 31.
