The second annual fundraising event called Dairy Cares 4 SD & G will take place on Saturday, April 6, 2024 at the Bonnie Glen Pavilion near Alexandria. The gala event includes dinner and a live auction of donated items–all to raise funds for three local hospitals: Glengarry Memorial Hospital, Winchester District Memorial Hospital and the Cornwall Community Hospital.
The event is made possible thanks to the support of local dairy farmers and industry partners who sponsor the event. Seven agricultural producers seized upon the idea to raise funds for their local hospitals as communities were emerging from the pandemic, says committee member Arnold Reijmers, who credits Don Johnson with initiating the idea.
In 2023, the event took place at the Best Western Conference Centre and raised $187,488.12, which resulted in a $62,496.04 donation to each of the three hospitals.
