Friday, March 29 and Saturday, March 30 was Pond Rocket Cup weekend in Vankleek Hill. This year’s annual fun hockey tournament was the biggest yet with 30 teams, two venues, and hundreds of fans.
Harden Rock took home the Rendez Vous Nissan Pond Rocket Cup for the third time in the team’s history as they won the St-Pierre Construction Championship Division. They defeated defending Champs Desja Plaizz who put up an incredible fight in the final.
Bud Lightning won the Star Hill Farms Breakout Division as they downed the H-Town Mighty Ducks in their final. Chicks with Sticks remain undefeated at the Pond Rocket Cup as they beat Lacroix Denture in the Bedard Real Estate women’s final. Moineau de L’Ontario edged out Outlaw Plumbing by goal differential to capture the Windsor Wrecked Division. And, the Old Cougars ran the table to win The Review Dusty Division.
In what was possibly the most entertaining division the Man Missiles were on cruise control as they rolled the Bubbas Skate Sharpening Young Guns Division.
Organizers thank all of the participants and are already planning for next year’s event.
