The Hawkesbury Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is warning the public that counterfeit $100 bills are circulating in the town of Hawkesbury.

On March 9, an unknown male was observed making a purchase at a local restaurant with a counterfeit $100 bill.

This same male is believed to have attempted other transactions with counterfeit $100 bills on March 11 at a bank, and on March 12 at a pharmacy. A photo of the suspect was captured on closed circuit television (CCTV). The suspect is a white male with a black moustache and beard, and curly black hair.

Anyone with information regarding this investigation is asked to contact the Hawkesbury OPP at 1-888-310-1122. Should you wish to remain anonymous, you may call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222- 8477 (TIPS), where you may be eligible to receive a cash reward of up to $2,000.

The investigation is ongoing and officers are working on any leads they may have.
