A new device along Rue Principale in Lachute will let you know.
Lachute Mayor Bernard Bigras-Denis recently shared on social media that the city is among the first in Québec to make drivers aware of the noise their vehicles make. Following more and more complaints about noise pollution, the city has acquired a sound radar which has been installed on Rue Principale which will be in operation to raise awareness during the summer season.
A troubled watermain under a bridge in Lachute is closer to being replaced.
Watermain replacement coming
On March 4, Lachute council awarded the contract for geotechnical and environmental studies for the replacement of the watermain on Rue Millway underneath the bridge over Rivière-du-Nord to DEC Enviro of St-Sauveur for $29,721 plus taxes.
Bigras-Denis said the conduit requires placement and broke in 2023. The actual reconstruction work will take place over the next three years.
Lachute council also awarded the contract for engineering work on the replacement of the watermain under the Rue Millway bridge to FNX Innov Inc. for $650,000 plus taxes. FNX Innov has offices in Montréal, Laval, and Sainte-Agathe-des Monts.
