Plans continue to bring natural gas to Chute-à-Blondeau.

Enbridge Gas Inc. is conducting an Environmental Study before it proceeds with the installation of gas lines to serve prospective customers in the village. Stantec Consulting Limited is conducting the study on behalf of Enbridge to satisfy the regulatory requirements of the Ontario Energy Board (OEB). The study will be conducted throughout 2024 and the Environmental Report for the study is to be completed in September 2024. After that time, Enbridge will file an application for the project with the OEB. Construction of gas lines in Chute-à-Blondeau is projected to begin in the spring of 2025.

The project was first announced by Enbridge and the Ontario government in November 2022.

The Chute-à-Blondeau project is to be located along existing municipal road rights of way with the potential for permanent easements for the gas company to be established. Temporary working spaces and laydown areas will also be established for during the construction period.

Enbridge Gas is seeking consultation and engagement with stakeholders and Indigenous communities as part of the planning process. The company plans to provide further details on how these stakeholders may become involved during the consultation and engagement process.

Anyone with questions or comments during the development stages of the Chute-à-Blondeau natural gas project, or input on potential alternative routes or natural environmental features is invited to contact Fernando Gomez-Sanchez, Environmental Planner, Project Manager, Stantec Consulting Limited at 226-7899-4883, or email [email protected].
