Alfred and Plantagenet councillors were paid $136,878.63 in base salaries in 2023. The basic salary per councillor was $21,417.87, while the mayor was paid $51,207.24. Four councillors and the mayor form the municipal council.
Councillors received remuneration for attending meetings as follows. Councillor Jean-Pierre Cadieux was paid $6,155; Councillor Benoit Lamarche was paid $7,625; Councillor Antoni Viau was paid $4,990 and councillor Ian Walker was paid $6110. Mayor Yves Laviolette received $5,310 for attending meetings.
The mayor was also reimbursed remuneration amounts including $614.20 for attending the Ontario Good Roads Conference in 2023. Councillor Antoni Viau was paid $1,137.24 in 2023.
