The Hawkesbury Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged one person following a traffic stop.
On February 18, at approximately 10:30 p.m., an OPP officer conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle on County Road 17 in Champlain Township to check the driver for sobriety.
The driver, 58-year-old Marie Brigitte Myre from L’Orignal, was subsequently arrested and charged with the following offences under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA), Highway Traffic Act (HTA) and Cannabis Control Act (CCA2017):
- CDSA 5(2) – Adult possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – cocaine
- HTA 154(1)(a) – Adult unsafe move – lane or shoulder
- CCA2017 12(1) – Adult drive vehicle or boat with cannabis in open baggage
The individual was released from custody and is scheduled to appear in court on March 13, 2024 at the Ontario Court of Justice in L’Orignal.
