Open letter to the Mayor and Council of Champlain Township:
To begin my letter, I would like to congratulate the Champlain Senior Planner, Jennifer Laforest, for her presentation to Council at your last meeting, regarding the development of a list of heritage properties in our communities.
I was disappointed in the decision of the Council not to proceed with this plan. There are two organizations within your jurisdiction who have the expertise and interest in carrying out such a plan.
By voting not to proceed, I truly question why the Council would not want such a list for present use and future use by those who govern in the future? This list would be valued by local citizens.
The cost is minimal, and a positive vote to proceed would certainly show that all Council members truly value the communities they represent.
Please reconsider your decision at your next meeting.
