To the Editor:
We had the absolute pleasure of being able to watch the Christmas Parade of Lights in Vankleek Hill this past Friday evening. Not only did it begin on time, but we were amazed at the number of floats. Both they and those walking alongside them were lit up beautifully, and we even got to hug one of the “Gingerbread Cookies”. The dogs were an adorable touch, as was the Canada Post mailbox and those walking around on stilts.
The spacing between the floats was also perfect, because it gave us the opportunity to admire each one individually. Finally, since it is very difficult to take pictures wearing mitts or gloves, our hands got very cold. However, when the hot air balloon trucks came down the road with their “flame throwers” on full display, the surrounding air was so warm, we thawed out again. Bonus!!
An event like this takes a lot of time, energy, and effort, and we wanted to register our great appreciation to Mayor Normand Riopel, the organizers, and the participants for a thoroughly enjoyable evening.
Congratulations to each and everyone of you for a job well done.
We already look forward to next year’s parade!!
