The Township of Russell is hiring a new, full-time fire chief.

The current Fire Chief, Bruce Armstrong, is retiring at the end of December after dedicating over 30 years to the township’s Fire and Rescue Service. In May of this year, Armstrong was temporarily appointed by council as the township’s first full-time fire chief. He has since helped the township identify the fire department’s needs, standardize procedures, address inefficiencies, create a comprehensive job description for the permanent position, and more.

“I thank Chief Armstrong for his dedication to leading our community and wish him a well-earned retirement,” said Russell Township Mayor Pierre Leroux.

Recruitment is now open for the new full-time, permanent fire chief position. The application period ends on Friday, November 25, 2022. Detailed qualifications are available on Russell Township’s Job Postings webpage.
