Work is nearly complete on County Road 17 east of Hawkesbury where a large culvert replacement project has been underway in recent weeks. The usually busy section of road has been closed between Tupper Street in Hawkesbury and Golf Club Road with a lengthy detour for traffic to follow. Heavy trucks have also been restricted from using other local roads as an alternative during the construction.
According to United Counties of Prescott and Russell Director of Public Works Jérémie Bouchard, the deadline to complete the culvert replacement project is October 26, but if the weather cooperates, the road could again be open at the end of the day on Friday, October 21.
