During the week of August 22 to August 28, 2022, officers with the Russell County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to over 420 calls for service. These included:

Domestic Disputes

On August 23, 2022, shortly before 9 a.m., Russell County OPP officers responded to a harassment complaint in Clarence-Creek.

During the investigation, it was determined that an altercation occurred between two adults.

As a result of the investigation, a 37-year-old, from Alfred-Plantagenet Township, was charged with:

  • Criminal Harassment – repeatedly communicate CC 264(2)(b)
  • Failure to comply with release order – other than to attend court CC 145(5)(a)

The accused was held for bail.

On August 25, 2022, shortly before 3:30 a.m., Russell County OPP officers responded to a domestic disturbance in Casselman.

During the investigation, it was determined that a physical altercation occurred between two adults.

As a result of the investigation, a 37-year-old, from Montreal, was charged with:

  • Assault causing bodily harm – Spousal CC 267(b)
  • Mischief – destroys or damages property CC 430(1)(a)
  • Uttering threats – Cause death or bodily harm – Spousal CC 264.1(1)(a)
  • Breach of Recognizance CC 811

The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in L’Orignal at a later date.

Disturbances

On August 26, 2022, at approximately 1 p.m., Russell County OPP officers responded to a disturbance on Champlain Street in Bourget.

During the investigation, it was determined that an altercation occurred between two adults.

As a result of the investigation, a 46-year-old, from Alfred, was charged with:

  • Uttering Threats – Cause death or bodily harm CC 264.1(1)(a) (Two counts)
  • Criminal Harassment – repeatedly follow CC 264(2)(a)
  • Possession of Weapon for Dangerous Purpose CC 88

The accused was held for bail.

On August 27, 2022, shortly after 9 p.m., Russell County OPP officers responded to a family dispute on St-Felix Road in the City of Clarence-Rockland.

During the investigation, it was determined that a physical altercation occurred between three adults.

As a result of the investigation, a 30-year-old, from Hammond, was charged with:

  • Assault CC 266 (Two counts)

The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in L’Orignal at a later date.
