Lozova machinery is resilient equipment originating in a resilient country. Until Ukraine was invaded by Russia in February of this year, the tillage equipment was manufactured in Kharkiv.

The only Canadian distributor of Lozova Machinery is Higginson Farm Equipment, located on Highway 34 between Hawkesbury and Vankleek Hill. The rest of the distributors are in various countries in Eastern Europe. Manager of Sales and Marketing Jean Kerr is amazed by the determination of the Ukrainian people.

“They are strong, they are focused, like 5,000 per cent!” she remarked.

Lozova machinery has been used on crop lands in Ontario, Saskatchewan, Québec and Alberta. The products offer high operating efficiency and high quality tillage at an affordable price. Higginson has enough inventory, even though the war in Ukraine has affected production. The company is in the process of adapting its manufacturing to Canada. This adaptation is being made through a new company called HF Agro, headquartered in Toronto.

“The decision to create a second independent brand was made due to a different approach to production,” said HF Agro and Lozova Machinery President Roman Girshfeld.

“HF Agro develops and manufactures modern agricultural equipment specifically for the specific needs of farmers. And now we can make it with our own production facilities directly in Canada,” he said.

HF Agro will eventually locate its production in Ontario and offer farmers a line of maintenance-free disc harrows under the GEKON name. GEKON disc harrows are equipped with grooved discs for intensive mixing of crop residues. The working bodies are mounted on a spring rack, which ensures both the highest quality of processing and reliable protection of the working bodies. The unit uses a tubular cage roller of large diameter, which does not have a central axis and does not clog. It is also important that the harrow is completely maintenance-free – GEKON does not have a single lubrication point.

“The manufacturing of it is really, really good. It’s top quality,” said Kerr.

The design of the Lozova products is intended to save farmers the steps of both plowing and discing.

“One till and you plant,” Kerr said.

Prices are also slightly less for Lozova tillage machinery than other makes and models.

The HF Agro product range includes plows, disc harrows, cultivators, rotary harrows, a large selection of fertilizer spreaders, applicators for liquid fertilizers, mini-seeders, field rollers for soil compaction and more.
