The new Member of Provincial Parliament (MPP) for Glengarry-Prescott-Russell will be assisting Ontario’s Minister of Energy.

On June 29, Premier Doug Ford announced that Stéphane Sarrazin will serve as the Parliamentary Assistant to Minister of Energy Todd Smith.

Parliamentary assistants support ministers with legislative and committee matters, including speaking on their behalf in the legislature or other venues. They also support ministers on special projects and assignments that require dedicated leadership. They play a key role in building relationships and communicating government initiatives across the province.

Smith also represents an Eastern Ontario riding, as the MPP for Bay of Quinte.

Stormont-Dundas-South Glengarry MPP Nolan Quinn was also appointed as a Parliamentary Assistant to Minister of Children, Community and Social Services, Merrilee Fullerton, who is also MPP for Kanata-Carleton.
