Vroom! The Truck Pull and Show ‘N’ Shine returns to Vankleek Hill on Saturday, June 25, after a two-year break due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

This year’s event promises to be bigger than ever, with live music, food and the Vankleek Hill fairgrounds is fully licensed for the event.

A small team that is part of the Vankleek Hill Agricultural Society organizes the event and all activities take place at the fairgrounds, note organizers Cory Nixon and Shawn Lewis. The gates open at 9 a.m. and the pull starts at 2 p.m.

New this year is a Light and Sound Show, which will take place in the Show ‘N’ Shine area from 9 p.m. to 10 p.m., followed by live music indoors to round out the evening.

What is a Show ‘N’ Shine? For you non-truckers, it is a chance for truck owners to show off their trucks, which can be visited by members of the public. For the most part, these trucks are hauling goods across North America or are at work in construction or at other work sites but for this one day, all trucker-operators and their trucks have to do is to simply shine!

Prizes will be given for the various categories, which include: Working Highway Truck, Vocational|Dump Truck, Best Looking Fleet (3+ trucks), Truck and Trailer Combo, Best Paint, Best Chrome, Antique Trucks and People’s Choice.

Truckers pay a $25 per truck participation fee; there is a $40 truck + trailer combo fee for participants.

There are also specific categories for the truck pull and those include: gas truck, diesel truck, single engine modified, Modified 2WD truck, Modified diesel tractor (7500, 9500, 11500 | Pro Farm, Stock Highway Truck, Dump Truck. The participation fee for the truck pull is $15 per class (two classes maximum).

Tickets cost $15 per person online or $20 at the gate. There is rough camping available on-site for $30 per camper/tent. Admission is free for children 12 years of age or less. Online ticket sales are available at www.vankleekhillfair.ca

The Vankleek Hill fairgrounds are located at 92 Main Street West in Vankleek Hill. Note that the event rain date is Sunday, June 26, 2022.
