It’s a free ride for students in Argenteuil.

The MRC d’Argenteuil has announced its Argenteuil-Saint-Jérôme transit circuit is free for students, as part of a pilot project that will run from March 1 to December 31, 2022.

The Argenteuil -Saint-Jérôme circuit provides three boarding points in Brownsburg-Chatham and 10 in Lachute. Transfers are available to students from one of the 200 stops distributed throughout the territory, to allow them to reach the point nearest boarding point at a cost of $2. After a few stops in the St-Canut area of Mirabel, the bus has seven stops in Saint-Jérôme, including the Cégep, which is within walking distance from the Université du Québec en Outaouais campus, at the Centre d’études professionels, and at the commuter rail station.

To take advantage of the free bus service, Argenteuil students simply need to obtain their electronic annual pass by visiting www.argenteuil.qc.ca/argenteuilsaintjerome or by scanning the QR code on the bus.

Once registered, no reservation is required; just go to one of the boarding points at the indicated time. The timetable and the stops can be consulted on the MRC d’Argenteuil website.

Since 2016, the MRC d’Argenteuil has offered the Argenteuil-Saint-Jérôme bus route free of charge to students on two occasions per year. Building on the success of this initiative the MRC has decided to extend the promotion for almost a full year, in the form of a pilot project.

Users of adapted and collective transport in the MRC d’Argenteuil can count on on text message alerts in order to be notified quickly in the event of delays, changes to the route and the schedule, in addition to receiving promotional offers. Interested users simply have to text the word ALERT at 450 562-5797.
