Grenville-sur-la-Rouge council met on February 8 and decisions were made involving public works equipment and a local park.

Council approved a regulation to borrow $500,000 for the purchase of a new 10-wheel truck with snow removal equipment.

A master plan will soon be in place for Parc Paul Bougie in Calumet. On February 8, Grenville-sur-la-Rouge council awarded a contract for approximately $13,500 for the creation of a development concept for the park, located adjacent to the community centre in Calumet.

“Right now, there’s no master plan for that park,” said Mayor Tom Arnold.

In May 2021, the municipality received a $311,943 grant, with the federal and Quebec governments each contributing 50 per cent so that a roof can be built over the rink. However, council decided the creation of a development concept was necessary, in order to determine if the rink is located in the best place within the park, before the roof is built.

Arnold said none of the grant money will be used for the development concept expenses.
