The Arbor Gallery Cultural Centre in Vankleek Hill is inviting people to celebrate the end of community exhibition Coup de Coeur by holding its very first ‘finissage’. Coined only in recent years, the term is the counterpoint of the classic vernissage, and refers to an end-of-the-show party, open to all, and is now used throughout the global art world.

On Saturday, December 18, from 1 p.m. to 3 p. m., everyone is invited to come view the gallery’s current exhibition one last time and meet with show contributors. Organizers want the event to be festive and bring people to mingle and share stories.  It will conclude with the draw of four gift baskets generously provided by local merchants Vankleek Cottage, Jade Garden, Garden Path Homemade Soap and The Review.

In accordance with Public Health regulations, vaccination proof is required for the event.

2022 season to start in February

The Arbor Gallery will be closed in January for a refresh before opening its 2022 season in February.

“Beginning December 20, the gallery will be closed to the public until the end of January,” explained Sylvie Bouchard from the gallery. “We will take that time to reorganize and refresh the space, and continue to put together our programming for 2022.”

Reopening partially in February, the exhibition calendar is almost filled, with some events already confirmed, while others will be soon.

“We are very hopeful, and are investing a lot of energy into expanding our role in the community,” Bouchard said.

In the works are more artist collaborations and community events, which will be accessible to all. There will also be projects aimed at raising awareness of various issues through art, exhibitions, talks and events.

“We are grateful to everyone who has been supporting us actively – volunteers, donors and sponsors alike,” Bouchard said. “ We are hopeful for a vibrant and inspiring 2022.”

The Arbor Gallery welcomes visitors Wednesday to Sunday, through December 19, from noon to 4 p.m.  and from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturdays.  Programming for 2022 will be posted on Facebook, Instagram and on the gallery website in early January.  Subscriptions to the Arbor Newsletter are available by registering at www.arborgallery.org or by emailing [email protected] .
